Engineering & Science Fair: Frequently Asked Questions for Visitors

Is there anything else to do at E-Fair?

YES! Tours of various departments are available within College of Engineering. Departments will have demonstrations and age-appropriate explanations relating to what their department does and what kinds of jobs are available in that field.

What is the cost?

NOTHING! E-Fair is free for everyone!

Is there a limit to how many people can attend?

There is no limit to how many people can come to E-Fair! However, there may be limits as to how many students can participate in a tour at once depending on which department you wish to visit. If your group decided to tour a facility that cannot accommodate your entire group at once, there are many options available to ensure your group will still have an opportunity to tour a department and remain together most of the day. Please contact the E-Fair Director via e-mail if you would like additional information pertaining to tours, including large group registration.

How do I register?

Registration Packets will be sent out at the beginning of January 2011. To request a registration packet, please send the name and address of the person to whom the packet should be sent to the Director of Engineering and Science Fair at HYPERLINK "mailto:efair.uf@gmail.com" efair.uf@gmail.com.

Do I have to wait for a registration packet to register?

NO! Don't wait! You can register online, it is fast and simple! Online Registration is currently available and the deadline for online registration is February 11, 2011. Simply fill out the required fields and submit the form!

Should we bring bag lunches or purchase lunch at the university?

The decision is completely up to you! If you choose to bring a lunch from home, then there will be a spot once you register to place the lunches so that you don't have to carry them around while looking at the exhibits. There is also a food court nearby that the students can eat at which has a variety of options. Keep in mind that the food court may get crowded during lunch time.

What time should we arrive?

Anytime!! There is no mandatory meeting time for Engineering & Science Fair. You are able to come at any time, but most schools choose to arrive at the Engineering & Science Fair in the morning. The fair will open on Tuesday from 9:00am to 4:00pm and on Wednesday from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Where do we park?

Well, if you are traveling by personal vehicle, the parking permit will be in the welcome packet that you will receive in the spring. Those parking permits will be for spaces in the Reitz Union parking garage. Buses do not require permits to park in Park-N-Ride Lot #2.

Does my group have to stay together at all times?

The 2011 Engineering & Science Fair occurs in the Grand Ballroom which holds over 1000 people. It is extremely unlikely that you will be able to monitor all of your students at all times. Please inform your students to approach the registration desk or anyone wearing a red “ How Can I Help You?” sticker or Engineers Week polo if they get separated from their group and we will help them find you.

How do I go to my tours?

Please be at the designated meeting area, immediately outside the Grand Ballroom main entrance fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled tour time. Engineers Week personnel will lead you to your tour location and after your tour is over they will lead you back to the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom. You will receive additional tour information upon check-in.

What if I need help when I am there?

If you have any questions during your visit to the 2011 Engineering & Science Fair, there will be students with red “How Can I Help You?” stickers or Engineers Week polo shirts that will be more than willing to assist you. You can always approach the Registration desk if you are unable to find a representative.
