The Dean Earle and Dean Weil Award application is up. Please check the documents tab. These awards are for graduating seniors with a record of leadership or service. The awards are presented at graduation. The deadline to turn in the application is March 22.

Committee Requirements

This is an announcement to remind all BEC Reps that participation in a BEC committee is a requirement for all societies. If you have not yet joined a committee there are still opportunities with the Constitution committee and the Holiday Cheer committee. Please contact the appropriate Officer as soon as Possible to secure a spot on one of these committees.

So we have finally appointed a holiday cheer director. Mary Ellen DiTommaso. Her contact is under the officers tab. If you want to get involved with our holiday cheer event this semester, make sure to contact her.




What BEC is...

The Benton Engineering Council (BEC) was established in 1910 to serve as the executive and legislative coordinating body for the students and organizations in the College of Engineering.

What BEC does...

  • Allocates money to member departments, societies and organizations for the execution of engineering projects and events.
  • Aids the member societies grow their student membership
  • Publishes the E-Gator every semester to inform the College about society events.
  • Participates in the National Association of Engineering Student Councils (NAESC).

BEC also plans several events throughout the year that are open to the entire College of Engineering, including:

  • College of Engineering Homecoming Float
  • Engineers Week
  • Holiday Cheer
  • Spring Service
  • Society Night

Voting members of the general council are elected by their respective societies. All engineering students are encouraged to attend meetings and participate in the many BEC functions and events.
